- In example 4 of section 4.6 (page 140), the question should read
"What was the sale price of the sofa", not "What was the selling price
of the sofa".
- In exercises 17-20 of section 4.6 (page 170), the question should
read "What is the largest possible percent markdown". The word "percent"
was omitted.
- In examples 1 and 2 of section 5.1 (pages 185-186), the value of the
equipment should be $12,520, and the percent (in example 2) should be 13.74%.
- Information is missing in exercise 18 of section 5.3 (page 218). The
schedule should run for five years.
- Answer for the principal value to problem 13 of section 6.3 should be
$95,405.33 (not $95,403.33). (The problem is on page 261, the answer is
on page 371.)
- In example 4 of section 7.2 (page 281), the values of N should be 144.85
periods (not 56.19 periods), about 12.07 years (not 4.68 years), and about 12 years and 1 month
(not 4 years and 8 months).
- In example 6 of section 7.3 (page 286), the denominator of the value of I
should be 1, not I (a number, not a letter).
- In example 4 of section 8.6 (page 335), the lender is charging a total of
$1,740 in up-front fees (not 51740).
- Answer for problem 9 of section 8.2 should be 18.9 years (not 22.5 years).
(The problem is on page 341, the answer is on page 373.)
- Problem 13 of section 8.2 (page 341) should be discarded. The way it is worded,
withdrawals are still being made after the account has been completely
emptied.
- The headings on problems 1-14 of section 8.3 (page 345) were scrambled.
The headings should be: "Time" in the first column, "Original Balance" in the
third column, "Future Balance in the fourth column, "Payment" in the fifth
column, and "Total Interest" in the last column.
